How to Stay Consistent with Saving Money

Let's be honest, saving money isn't something that we naturally want to do. So, the question is... how are people successful at saving money, and how can you be too?
The productive things in life like waking up early, washing the dishes right after using them, budgeting, praying, and working out, seem to be the hardest things to stay consistent with.
But on the other hand, doom scrolling until 12 am, eating sweets late at night, letting the clean clothes sit in the basket, and always showing up 5 minutes late seems to consistently be our reality.
Romans 7: 18-19 "For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do - this I keep on doing."
The Bible even talks about this phenomenon of knowing what we want to do but still doing the things that we don't want to do. But why is this!?
The truth is that you may not have a strong enough desire for the things you’re striving to stay consistent with.
For example, those clothes that you have been putting off to fold have been left on your couch for a couple days, but as soon as your friend says she wants to stop by, you jump up and fold those clothes faster than you ever have before.
Now, the desire to actually fold the clothes did not change, but the desire to appear clean and neat popped up. That new desire [to appear clean] motivated you to do something you didn't feel like doing before [folding clothes].
It's the same thing for saving money. The act of putting money away is not something that you crave to do, but as soon as a motivating desire like going on a vacation, or saving for emergencies pops up, then saving money seems a lot easier.
Here are my top 3 tips for saving money consistently:
Attach a motivating desire to why you are saving money
the "why" behind your saving will help you stay consistent even when you may not feel like it.
Set an end goal for how much you want to save
this will give you an end date, because it is easier to sacrifice for a set time instead of an endless time.
Track your progress
while this tip may seem simple, it is honestly powerful to see your progress in a visual format. It is easy to go through life and forget about all that we have accomplished.
So, track your savings progress so you can stay excited along your journey.
